Long-Term Men's “Turning Point” Program

Mission Statement

Within the framework of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Men's Ministry seeks to promote the personal wholeness and self-sufficiency of Adult Men by ministering to their spiritual, emotional, educational/vocational and physical needs. By identifying and addressing these issues, we endeavor to equip residents to achieve spiritual recovery and maintain self-sufficiency.

Goals

  • To meet the spiritual, social, cognitive, emotional and psychological needs of men entering the Long Term Program

  • To ensure their relationship with Christ, build them up and equip them to be witnesses in the Kingdom of God.

  • To meet the basic physical and nutritional needs of each man in the Program

  • To refer Program Residents to appropriate medical, legal, Housing and vocational services outside the Mission when appropriate.

Ongoing Activities

  • Three nutritious meals provided everyday.

  • Special meals - Periodic special events including Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas

  • Clothing provided based on needs and availability of clothing.

  • Free lodging for the period of 12 months during the Program. Program Residents receive an additional three months on successfully completing the Program.

  • Transitional Housing for Program Graduates who need housing to transition back into the community.

  • Weekly Medical Clinic by Doctors from St. Clare's Hospital. Program Residents are encouraged to obtain Medical Assistance through Medicaid for health benefits.

  • Primary Counselor and Facilitating Staff present programs and meet the various needs of the Resident.

  • Weekly Groups on several topics: You are Welcome, Spirituality, 12 Step Spiritual Journey, Denial, Anger Management, Men's Issues, Career Development, Money Management. Phase Groups covering topics such as Hunger for Healing, Changes that heal and Healing Damaged Emotions. Individual session on a weekly basis.

  • Chapel Service will be held on Fridays at ll:OOAM and Sundays at 6:OOPM. A short devotion time called, "Time Out," will be done Monday to Friday at 7:30 AM.

  • Free Bible and Christian literature will be provided to the Residents as needed.

  • Weekly Bible Study is conducted by the Chaplain and the Men arescheduled to attend a Men's Group to address men's issues.

  • Each person is encouraged to attend a Church on a weekly basis.

  • Learning Center to address the educational needs of the Men in an individualized level with goals of helping Program Residents to read, write, comprehend, prepare for GED, type and develop computer skills.

  • Residents are taken to Retreats and Camps for spiritual upliftment Relaxation and Recreation.

  • The Residents have access to the Recreation Room, Gym and TV Room for appropriate exercise and Recreation everyday.

  • Recreational activities organized include Bowling, Softball, visiting a Theme Park, Ping-pong, Pool and Electronic dart competitions.

  • Work Therapy opportunity through the Distribution Center, Kitchen and Facility Maintenance.

  • Meeting with mature men from the Community who would mentor Program Residents for positive growth.

  • Volunteering opportunities for the Program residents while they go through the Program.

  • Community(TV) Room at the Men's Shelter

  • Gym/Recreation Room at the Men's Shelter

  • Program Lounge in the Main Dorm.

  • Davis Pavilion in the Mission Property.

  • Jacob's Well - Community Outreach Center.
